Holistic Child Development at MIRAI
Child development encompasses the biological, psychological, and emotional changes that occur in human beings from birth through adolescence. At MIRAI Centre in Bangalore, our Child Development Services provide a comprehensive framework of assessment, therapy, and support that addresses every dimension of a child's growth — ensuring that challenges are identified early, strengths are celebrated, and every child has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential.
Comprehensive Developmental Assessments
Understanding where a child is developmentally — and why — requires expertise, time, and the right tools. MIRAI's developmental assessments are conducted by our multidisciplinary team and cover:
- Cognitive Development: Problem-solving, learning, memory, attention, and executive function
- Language and Communication: Receptive language, expressive language, pragmatics, and literacy foundations
- Social-Emotional Development: Emotional regulation, peer relationships, self-awareness, and empathy
- Fine Motor Development: Hand skills, handwriting, tool use, and visual-motor integration
- Gross Motor Development: Balance, coordination, strength, and functional movement
- Sensory Processing: How the child receives and responds to sensory information
- Adaptive Behaviour: Daily living skills, self-care, and functional independence
- Play Development: Play as a window into learning, language, and social skills
Special Education Support
Many children with developmental differences require specialised educational support alongside therapy to succeed academically. MIRAI's special educators work closely with children on individualised learning programmes that address academic skill gaps (reading, writing, maths), learning strategies, attention and organisation, and executive function skills. We use multi-sensory learning approaches that make concepts accessible and engaging for children with diverse learning profiles.
School Readiness Programme
Starting school is a major milestone. For children with developmental differences, this transition requires careful preparation. Our School Readiness Programme prepares children across all the domains they need to thrive in a classroom environment: sitting and attending, following instructions, pre-literacy and pre-numeracy skills, social skills with peers, self-care and bathroom independence, and emotional regulation. We also support families in selecting the right school environment and advocate for appropriate accommodations.
Learning Disability Support
Learning disabilities such as dyslexia (reading difficulties), dysgraphia (writing difficulties), and dyscalculia (maths difficulties) affect children of all intelligence levels and require targeted, evidence-based intervention. MIRAI's team uses multi-sensory, structured literacy approaches (including Orton-Gillingham principles) to build the foundational skills that unlock academic success. We work directly with schools to ensure classroom strategies complement individual therapy.
ADHD Support Programme
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder affects not just attention, but also organisation, time management, impulse control, emotional regulation, and social relationships. Our comprehensive ADHD programme combines occupational therapy (for attention and sensory strategies), behavioural therapy (for self-regulation and executive function), parent training, and school liaison to create a coordinated system of support around each child.
Social Skills and Emotional Intelligence
Social competence is one of the strongest predictors of lifelong happiness and success. For children who struggle with social interaction — whether due to autism, anxiety, learning differences, or simply social immaturity — MIRAI offers structured social skills groups using evidence-based curricula including Social Thinking, PEERS (for adolescents), and Super Flex. These groups provide a safe, supported environment to practice the subtle, unwritten rules of social interaction with peers.
Family Support and Parent Coaching
Raising a child with developmental challenges is one of the most demanding — and most rewarding — experiences a family can have. MIRAI's family support services include regular parent coaching sessions, workshops on topics like understanding your child's diagnosis, managing meltdowns, building communication at home, and advocacy in schools. We also provide signposting to parent support groups and community resources.
Transition Planning (School to Work)
For adolescents with developmental differences approaching adulthood, the transition to higher education, vocational training, or employment requires careful planning and skill-building. MIRAI's transition programme develops independent living skills, vocational skills, self-advocacy, and community participation — preparing young people for the most independent, fulfilling adult life possible.
